Perseverance

One of the core pillars of the Kurn Hattin Homes for Children is perseverance. By that virtue one learns to forge ahead, not to be a quitter. Life is tough and it takes determination to make it good. We cannot always control the external circumstances in our lives, but we can control our reactions to them. You've heard the expression: "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade." In other words: life is not fair, not everything is equal, but each individual has the capacity to make the most of any given situation.

That is an important lesson for children who come from difficult home lives, because many of them--just like all of us--follow patterns they learned from their parents, and their parents, and their parents. Sometimes one has to break the mold of repeatable unfortunate circumstances in order to become successful and happy. We all know that, but it takes courage, and it takes someone who believes in you and encourages you.

The St. Nicholas Project supports the Kurn Hattin Homes for Children because they help children to find that specific courage to "make lemonade,"; that is, to take the difficult events they have experienced in their lives and to go beyond them. We teach them that they are not the sum total of their past experiences, but that they have the capacity to influence their future.

You, our donors, are "making lemonade" with every donation to the Kurn Hattin Homes. You are literally changing the direction of a child's life and turning his or her bad circumstances into good ones. You are taking the sour lemons of unfair circumstances and helping these kids make something beautiful out of a traumatic past.

Please help us with make some "lemonade" this school year by making a donation to Kurn Hattin Homes today. Just click on the donate icon above.

Thank you for being so committed to these children and Kurn Hattin's mission!

God bless you!
