Two Deacons

The other night I was so deeply touched. We had had a Confirmation ceremony at the Cathedral of St. Joseph where I work. There had been a crowd of close to three hundred people and I was trying to clean up after the ceremony: picking up items, turning off lights, locking doors, etc.

As it was getting late, and I hadn't had supper, I was moving along quickly when I noticed the front doors of the church were still open. As I was walking down the main aisle, the two Catholic deacons who had assisted at the Mass were headed in my direction. I thanked them for their help and said how nice it was to see them. One of the deacons said to me, "Oh Father, I have something for you. A donation to the children's home." And he handed me some cash. The other deacon with him said, "Oh, yes, I would like to give you a donation for the children's home, also." And he handed me some more cash.

I was so deeply touched by their generosity, that after a long day at work, then after a long evening at church, God had touched their hearts to make a donation to The St. Nicholas Project which supports the Kurn Hattin Homes for Children. I was simply amazed and humbled by their thoughtfulness. Our donors to The St. Nicholas Project are amazing and I never get tired of saying that!

Thank you to the two Deacons who remembered the boys and girls at the Kurn Hattin Homes for Children and went out of their way to make a donation! I have thanked God for you every day and I thank God every day for all of you who are donors to The St. Nicholas Project. God bless you!
