Yard Sales!!

Although the summer is over and fall is here, it's not too late to have a yard sale to support the Kurn Hattin Homes for Children. I recently had two yard sales at a parish Bingo at which I sold left-over Christmas items from another fundraising event. I made several hundred dollars which I sent to the children's home. And, in December, I am planning to have three more indoor yard sales at Catholic schools for the students to buy Christmas ornaments ranging in price from 25 cents to $1.00. Granted, I won't make a fortune, but there is more than just money to be gained by those events.

My objective for the Christmas yard sale is several fold: (1) teach the school children the value of being charitable by pointing out that their purchase of an ornament supports the children's home; (2) increase public relations for The St. Nicholas Project with a new target audience; and, finally, (3) offer the Catholic school students an opportunity to buy Christmas ornaments (at a price they can afford) to take home for their family Christmas trees.

So, I would like you to consider having your own yard sale to support the Kurn Hattin Homes for Children. If it is too cold where you live for an outdoor event, consider having a table inside at a Christmas bazaar at your church or maybe a senior citizen center. There are plenty of attic and basement "treasures" just waiting to be sold.

Fundraising can be fun with some creative ideas! A yard sale in December? Why not! The Kurn Hattin Homes for Children is a great cause!! Please make a donation today by clicking on the donate icon above. Thank you for remembering the boys and girls at the children's home. God bless you!
