Grandparents

There is an idea in life that one day you will reach the age where your own children will grow up, your grandchildren will visit and then blissfully go home, retirement looks promising and being able to have the freedom to travel or just loaf around the house will finally come true after decades of working. But what if that is not the case?

What if your adult children have lost everything because of drug addiction? What if one of them will be spending years in jail for various crimes? What if there is no one else to take care of your young grandchildren---except for you? Now, in late middle age or older, you are faced with raising young children all over again. What if you are absolutely overwhelmed?

This scenario of grandparents raising their grandchildren in the absence of parents is all too familiar with us at the Kurn Hattin Homes for Children. In 2017/2018, 9% of the boys and girls who came to live with us were admitted because they were being raised by grandparents who needed our help.

If you are a grandparent in that situation and are unable to cope with the financial, physical or emotional demands of raising young children all over again, Kurn Hattin Homes can help you. Sometimes life isn't fair, whether you are young or old, but God always sends us help. Kurn Hattin Homes is a godsend.

There is another idea in life and that states: With age comes wisdom. It takes a lot of wisdom to recognize when you're in over your head and you need help. Kurn Hattin is there to help you. And, believe me, we have a lot of experience. One hundred and twenty-five years worth of helping families in crisis!

9% of admissions in 2018 at Kurn Hattin were for grandparents raising their grandchildren in the absence of parents. Kurn Hattin can help you!
