She had holes in her shoes

Every year the St. Nicholas Project conducts a fundraiser to obtain money for the purchase of shoes and winter boots for the boys and girls at the Kurn Hattin Homes for Children. During the pandemic, we skipped the fundraiser because we had already done an emergency appeal for food cards for the children's families. Fortunately, you, our St Nicholas Project donors, had been so generous the year before, that we could get by without another appeal this year.

I received some adorable thank-you cards from the kids for whom the money was spent on their shoes and boots. One of them particularly struck my heart. It also made me so thankful for all of you, our donors, who love the kids and never let them down.

A little girl had written this note to me in her card:

"Thank you (heart drawing) for the shoes. I really needed them. My toes were sticking out of my old ones. (heart drawing)

and she signed her name.

I know kids grow quickly and parents have a hard time keeping up with their clothes--especially parents struggling financially. I am so grateful to you, our donors, who have such large hearts for these boys and girls who come from troubled families. I will always remember this card each time I put my shoes on and I will especially remember what joy you, our donors, brought to her life. Shoes with no holes ! A little girl smiling from ear to ear. See what a difference your donation makes? God bless you!
